BENGALURU: Bidar the northernmost district of Karnataka made a chilly entry into 2019 with 6 degrees Celsius. According to the India Meteorological department, the figure is recorded to be the all-time lowest with a minimum temperature for the month of January, which has surpassed the previous record of 6.2 degrees Celsius which was 51 years ago.

Comparatively, the city of Bangalore had also experienced low temperatures. “The minimum temperature during the previous night of New Year was 14 degrees Celsius, an eight-year low for the city. On January 23, 2010, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 14.1 degree celsius. The all-time low temperature for Bengaluru, however, was recorded on January 13, 1884 when the mercury levels dropped to 7.8 degree celsius,” said an official from the meteorological centre, Bengaluru.

As per the recordings of the 1st of January, the HAL airport had recorded a minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius and KIA 12.6 degrees Celsius. Bengaluru is more likely to have a clear sky for the next few days. The maximum and minimum temperatures are said to be 27 and 15 degrees celsius.
