Hyderabad: Principal Secretary Municipal Administration and urban development Arvind Kumar today inspected the Jawaharnagar treatment and disposal facility for Municipal Solid Waste and took stock of the progress achieved so far including capping of old dump.

He instructed the concessionaire to operationalize all 4 newly installed trammels to clear the active garbage waiting on the tipping floor so that the accumulation will exhaust within one month which is the main cause for odour nuisance. He inspected the capping work and enquired about the construction procedure of all the layers of capping work. He observed that the profiling and impervious soil layer was completed to the extent of 90% and laying of Geo- Synthetic liner, HDPE liner, Geo-composite liner and top layer of vegetation are in brisk progress.

The Principal Secretary visited the plastic recyclable plant capacity which was processing 5-6 tons of plastic recyclable waste at present. He also inspected the construction of the 19.8 MW waste to energy plant which is in progress and is likely to be commissioned by the end of December this year. He instructed the concessionaire to stick to the timelines and ensure that capping of the legacy dump including greenery to be completed by May 2019. He directed the Additional Commissioner to organize all the informal rag-pickers at the transfer stations

The concessionaires through a power point presentation briefed the Principal Secretary on progress of capping work. They appraised that the legacy leachate is being treated with (2) Two mobile RO treatment plants of 2000 KLD capacity each.

Additional Commissioner S. Srinivasa Reddy, S.E. M. Koteswara Rao, E.E. R.Srinivasa Reddy and Head-ESD division from EPTRI and other officials were present during the inspection.
