Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was captivated by Pakistan on Wednesday has been released by the country on Friday night. Abhinandan was handed over to Indian authorities at Attari-Wagah border from where he was taken for a medical examination.

After landing at Palam airport, the commander received a rousing welcome by the people. Soon after his arrival, the Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor, assistant chief of Air Staff told the reporters that he will be sent for a detailed medical test as he was subjected to a lot of stress during his captivity in Pakistan.

It is learned that Abhinandan will be made to take medical tests if he has been bugged by the Pakistan army and to gauge his fitness levels. He will also be undergoing psychological tests. Following the medical tests, he will have to undertake a debriefing test by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW).
