It is the arrival of spring and the end of winter. It brings new hopes and ends all the disputes between people bringing them together.
The ritual of playing with colours is followed since forever. The playful cultural event of throwing powdered colours and coloured water on your beloveds symbolises the spread of happiness in the life of people through colour. Celebrate this auspicious season of Holi with bliss, joy, & most importantly precaution & care keeping in mind few important tips to take care of the skin and hair.
Follow simple tips that will take at most care of your skin and hair during the festival time
1. Nourish your skin with good amount of oil prior you play with colours. The oil repels the water based colours and refrains the colours to stick on the skin.
2. Apply sunscreen 20 min before going out in the sun. It prevents your skin from sun damage and also gives you protection from harmful UV rays. A good Sunscreen with SPF above 30 could provide protection. Apply generous amount of moisturiser all over the body in order to keep your skin hydrate.
3. For lips, apply good moisturiser to prevent them from drying up.
4. Always wear eye protective glasses to prevent damage to eyes with harsh chemical colours. Don’t wear contact lenses.
5. Apply thin layer of nail varnishes so that harsh colours don’t harm your nails.
6. Holi colours leave your hair dry and damage the scalp. In order to minimise the extent of damage tie your hair in a braid or bun to avoid maximum damage
7. It is much advisable to keep your body hydrate during a sunny day. Have water or fruit juices or glucose to keep yourself hydrated.
8. It is better to wear full neck & full sleeve cloths. The more you protect your skin from direct contact with sun or colours, the less is the extent of damage.
9. Don’t wax your body before Holi, the harsh chemicals may damage your sensitive new skin.
10. After joyful celebration, use gentle cleansers to remove colours from skin and hair. Do not use harsh alkali soaps or shampoos which accelerate further damage.
11. If you experience any allergic reactions on skin, wash the area with plain cold water and consult nearer dermatologist asap for medical support.
