It is with reference to an article of the Hans on Osmania General Hospital. It is discomforting to know about the limitations of the century-old hospital in Hyderabad. Day by day there are fresh challenges popping up related to its administration and timely maintenance.

Many articles, news updates, interviews etc., have been focusing on the dilapidated condition of the hospital. Deficiency in prompt medical services, paucity of doctors, slacking updation of the high-end sophistication in medical equipment or diagnostic examinations, in adequate bed capacity, sanitation stench, inappropriate quality accreditation and the like., cannot make one to call it a hospital.

Mere bragging about its history or architecture does not serve the purpose of giving medication or assisting doctoral help. As it is a part of the Government, the Health Ministry of the State along with its officials have to constantly keep a place a check on delivering efficient, timely medical services as the illiterate, financially backward and innocent people have no other option other than the government hospitals to get their treatments done.

Privatisation or taking over of the low moving government hospitals by those in the private sector can be a good way to make health sector bloom rather than to perish. Only when proper attention is given to the such hospitals, the people can be assured of cure and confidence.
