"Did anyone see LOPs in both Houses express sympathy/visit disaster-hit Uttarakhand? This from a party that criticizes visits of Cong leaders," thus tweeted Tewari Venkat Parsa congNew Delhi: The Congress and the BJP were engaged in a twitter war over the relief works in the floods-ravaged Uttarakhand. Not to let go the opportunity, Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari had a dig at Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, who came out with a detailed critique of the Congress-led UPA Government on the issue of autonomy of the CBI. However, there was no word on the worst-ever disaster to strike Uttarakhand, he lamented. What is more, the BJP top-brass skipped visiting Uttarakhand, known as Dev-Bhoomi or the Land of Gods, as the party prides itself as a pro-Hindu party. Information & Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said, "Did anyone see LOPs in both Houses express sympathy/visit disaster-hit Uttarakhand? This from a party that criticizes visits of Congress leaders. Hon'ble LOPs have mind space to critique govt proposals on CBI autonomy that are yet to be placed before SC but no time to visit Uttarakhand." Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj was swift in hitting back, saying: "We did not go to Uttarakhand because Home Minister made a public statement that our visit will hamper the rescue effort. He (Home Minister) went to the extent of saying that nobody, including himself, was allowed to land anywhere." Sushma Swaraj said, "I am sorry to say that the government in Uttarakhand has not been able to rise to the occasion. They ought to be dismissed for being inept and incompetent. Unfortunately, the Government in Delhi has also failed to provide the requisite leadership." AICC General Secretary incharge of Congress President's Office (CPO) Ambika Soni deplored the demand of Sushma Swaraj for the dismissal of the Uttarakhand Government, when it was in the midst of one of the biggest challenges of rescuing over one lakh people stranded in different parts of the State during the floods, supplying food to hundreds of villages cut off, as a result and coping with the much greater challenge of rehabilitation and reconstruction of the lives of the people, irreparably damaged by the floods.
