Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwar Das Rohani on Tuesday passed away following a cardiac arrest. The 67-year-old BJP leader is survived by wife, two sons and four daughters.
Mr. Rohani complained of chest pain on Tuesday morning following which he was rushed to a hospital in Jabalpur, where doctors declared him dead, official sources said.
Rohani was the sitting MLA from Jabalpur Cantt and the BJP had again fielded him from the same seat for the November 25 elections.
He was made Deputy Speaker of the MP Assembly in 1998 and became its Speaker following the BJP’s victory in the State elections in 2003.
