Priyanka Gandhi Can Change Congress Fortunes. Ever since Rahul Gandhi was named the vice-president of the AICC, India looked up to him as an able successor to his late father Rajiv Gandhi.
Ever since Rahul Gandhi was named the vice-president of the AICC, India looked up to him as an able successor to his late father Rajiv Gandhi. However, that was not to be. Right from day 1, the path has not been rosy for Rahul.
He became a butt of jokes after his first ever television interview where his inexperience and lack of maturity was there for everyone to see.
And him being pitted against a charismatic leader such as Narendra Modi made it even difficult for Rahul. It shouldn't be forgotten that Modi has hands-on experience in the field along with the best marketing place. BJP too is betting bigtime on the Modiwave and also named him its prime ministerial candidate.
Political observers have already resolved to the fact that Rahul can't clinch the nation's top post - at least not this year from a leader as powerful as Modi. Add to that the fact that Rahul is representing a party tainted by corruption and whose rule is synonymous with scams.
If there is one person who could have turned tables for the party, that is Priyanka Gandhi. Political analysts believe that she could have easily wooed the people as Rajiv's daughter.
Priyanka on her part has made it clear that she has no inclination to enter politics. However, she's relentlessly campaigning for her mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi in the Amethi-Rae Bareli region over the last few days.
That is not all. The daughter of the late charismatic prime minister Rajiv Gandhi has displayed confidence and proven that she can be an equal opponent for Modi.
Her tit-for-tat speeches targeting Modi has not gone unnoticed. Within days after she entered the campaign trailer, Priyanka made headlines with her fiery pot-shots at her party's opponents.
Remember how she hit back at Modi's "Priyanka is like my daughter" statement? Instead of beating around the bush, she simply said: "I am Rajiv's daughter." Short and sweet Isn't it?
At times, it makes one wonder if Congress is investing in a wrong child by projecting Rahul as the party's face. But like they, in politics you never know what's on agenda!
