New Delhi: On the very day the Election Commission announced dates for the assembly elections in Haryana, the BJP seems to have found a star campaigner to bat for the party in the Congress-ruled state.

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who met BJP President Amit Shah at the party headquarters in Delhi today, will campaign for the party in Haryana, which goes to polls on October 15.

The BJP currently has only four lawmakers in the 90-member Haryana Assembly.

But confident about its chances after sweeping the Lok Sabha polls in May under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the party has already declared its first list of 43 candidates last week.

The BJP hopes to capitalise on the results of the parliamentary polls, when it won nine of the ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana. It is banking on 'brand Modi' and the anti-incumbency factor against the Congress government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, which has ruled the state for nearly ten years.

The party had suffered a setback in the state recently, when it lost ally Haryana Janhit Congress or HJC.
