HYDERABAD: The starry eye and dusky heart breaker of millions of her fans and co-stars of eighties and nineties is likely to have a second innings in Political arena. Like purandeswari, NTR daughter , the actor who played roaring films with actor-turned TDP founder , is warming up to attention of BJP .
Her BJP mentor Venkaiah Naidu is keebto pitch Jayaprada in Delhi's Telugu dominated areas and also to embrass Aam Admi chief Kejriwal in the February bound polls in Delhi .
Ending speculations of her political future, glamour star of yesteryears and former Samajwadi MP from Rampur , Jayaprada is all set to join Bharatiya Janata Party.
Following her strained relationship with the Samajwadi Party it has been said that she would return to Andhra Pradesh politics and join YSR Congress Party headed by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Ever since her expulsion from Samajwadi Party, the political career of two-time MP from Rampur has eclipsed in Uttar Pradesh. The popular Telugu star speaking to Telugu TV channel dropped enough hints about her political plans when she said “I like Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration. He has been doing wonders. I would like to join BJP but it depends on the decision of my mentor Amar Singh”.
“The harassment of committed political leaders has been going on everywhere. I left Telugu Desam Party due to some differences. Then I moved to Uttar Pradesh, I treated Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav like my father. But he hounded me out of the party after mentally harassing me. He did nothing to protect me,” Jayaprada said in that interview. She said that her plans t return to state political arena, the 52 year old actress said that there is nothing much is happening in that front.
She is believed to be in touch with the BJP leaders and was keen on contesting against Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi assembly polls. “It is premature to say. Mr. Amar Singh is in touch with the BJP and I am ready to contest in any place that the party (BJP) wants me to. I am not particular about positions in the party, but like to work for BJP,” she said.
Jayaprada was initiated into politics in 1994 by the Telugu matinee idol late N T Rama Rao. She later broke away from him and joined the Chandrababu Naidu faction of the Telugu Desam Party during the internal revolt in 1995.Jayaprada was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 1996 and was also made the president of Telugu Mahila, the women's wing of the TDP. However, she was denied a second term in Rajya Sabha in 2002. She was replaced by another glamorous actress Roja as TDP women’s wing chief.
Following differences with the party leadership, Jayaprada quit TDP and subsequently migrated to UP where her political career received a boost with the help from Amar Singh. She was first elected to Lok Sabha in 2004 from Rampur, a seat she managed to retain in the previous election with a reduced margin. Jayaprada was expelled by SP in February, 2010, for sailing with Amar Singh.
Jaya Prada had contested Lok Sabha elections in 2014 on Rashtriya Lok Dal's ticket from Bijnor but had lost.
In spite of ups and downs in her political, film carer and personal life Jayaprada was keen to push the film career of her kins but the Tollywood had remained lukewarm towards her.
