Petrol will now cost Rs 56.49 a litre in Delhi, down from Rs 58.91 until now, while diesel will cost Rs 46.01 per litre compared with Rs 48.26 earlier.
Way back in 2012, the Election Commission of India had flatly rejected the proposal of the then Kiran Kumar Reddy government to cut sales tax on petrol by 3% to in view of the June 12 by-elections .
