Prashant Bhushan who delivered Eleventh Gutta Sri Rama Rao Memorial Lecture at NALSAR University of Law on “Use of PIL in Fight Against Corruption” highlighted the utility of PIL( public interest litigation ) and said PIL relating to corruption is a developing field. It can play a significant role in controlling corruption.

He also expressed his displeasure on courts becoming active in corruption related PILs only when the issue becomes too publicized and public opinion demanded it and not on its judicial merits alone.

The social activist who has fought almost all scam cases and has been nation’s conscience keeper lamented that Lamented on the extremely low rate of success and that the success in corruption related PILs are few.

The senior advocate of Supreme Court who has fought many battles against corruption also expressed his dismay in judiciary not taking up systemic judicial reforms and blamed it on the flourishing arbitration industry for this lack of judicial interest in judicial reforms.
