MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday attended the Iftar party in Bengaluru that was congregated by thousands of supporters and the organizers had to face a tough time with the supporters trying to get a glimpse of Mr Owaisi.

Mr Owaisi’s visit to Bengaluru had been imposed with prohibitory orders by the Bengaluru police commissioner in February where a public meeting organized by the MIM was banned. Mr Owaisi was barred from holding a public meeting at Allahabad by the local officials in Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Owaisi drew similar response at Iftar parties in Meerut and Agra in Uttar Pradesh. UP MIM convenor Shaukat Ali informed that even though the announcement of Mr Owaisi’s visit was made just a day earlier, around 6,000 people assembled at the Meerut Iftar party and the Abu-al-ala shrine - the Iftar party in Agra was jam-packed.

According to the sources, Mr Owaisi briefed local leaders at the UP Iftars on the 2017 state elections. Mr Shaukat Ali added that UP has a district-level MIM office in 42 districts with 3 lakh members and booth-level presence in around 25 districts.
