Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said that he would not hesitate to be a 'yachak' (seeker) for the state's development, adding that he would go to any extent to ensure the welfare of the state.
"Bihar ke vikas ke liye mujhe yachak ban na pade to mujhe us se koi aapatti nahi hai (If I have to become a seeker for Bihar's development, then I do not have any objection," he said.
"On the one hand he (Prime Minister Modi) calls me 'yachak' (seeker), and on the other, he calls me arrogant, there is a contradiction in this...I can do anything for the welfare of Bihar," he added.
Prime Minister had used the term ' yachak' to describe Nitish Kumar during his rally in Ara.
Nitish Kumar has been demanding the grant of Special Status for the state for over two years on the plea that that Bihar is way behind on major indices of development at the national level.
Despite accounting for eight percent of the country's population, Bihar present contribution to national GDP is only 2.9 percent.
Kumar had said that if the Centre accords Special Status to Bihar it can raise its GDP contribution to nine to ten percent.
