With the Mahagathbandhan crossing the half-way mark in leads and possibly heading for a landslide victory in the Bihar state assembly elections, celebrations commenced outside the Patna residence of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday morning.

Lalu's daughter Misa Bharti expressed her delight with the early trends tilting in favour of the grand alliance and predicted that the Mahagathbandhan will cross 140 seat mark.

RJD workers were seen to be in a festive mood as they distributed sweets and applied colour on each other.

"The verdict is in favour of the Mahagathbandhan, there is no doubt about that. Lalu ji's both sons will win," said an RJD worker.
Another RJD worker said the people of Bihar have given a befitting reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Counting of votes for the five-phased Bihar Assembly election is in progress amidst tight security.

The early trends available so far show that the grand alliance is ahead in 158 seats followed by the BJP-led NDA at 76 seats.

CCTV cameras have been installed at all counting centres. E-counting software is also being used to record real time compilation of round-wise data. Observers have been deployed for each constituency.
