Kalaburagi (Karnataka): Leader of Opposition in State Legislative Council KS Eshwarappa alleged that the Congress government had failed to set up drinking water units which it had proposed to initiate in the state.

Addressing the media here on Monday, he said the government failed to submit list of water units which have been said to be initiated in the state. If the government fails to issue the list of units till the end of April, we would march to the residence of the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in Bengaluru, he said.

The State government had promised to set up 1,000 units in the first year, 2,000 in second and 4,000 in third year. But it took a U-turn by saying work would be undertaken by the State government and gram panchayats. Gram panchayats have to pay 50 per cent of the expenditure.

The state was facing worst ever drought situation this year. But no minister had visited the drought-hit areas, Eshwarappa said. This clearly shows the irresponsibility of the Ministers, he alleged.
