The Minister of Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh replied to the debate in Lok Sabha on the situation arising out of violence in the Kashmir Valley . In his reply, the Minister assured that peace will be restored in the Valley soon. He informed the members that the Prime Minister and Ministry of Home Affairs has given instructions to the security forces to exercise maximum restraint in handling protesters. He further added that an Expert Committee will be set up that shall examine alternatives to the use of pellet guns.

The Lower House also passed the National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research (Amendment) Bill. The Bill seeks to establish the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Andhra Pradesh as an institute of national importance under the National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research (NITSER) Act, 2007.

The NIT will be deemed to have been an institute of national importance as on August 20, 2015. This is the day the central government approved its establishment.

Rajya Sabha took up discussion on the recent incidents of atrocities on Dalits in various parts of the country. The Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Thawar Chand Gehlot replied at the end the debate and informed members that the government will also contribute to the compensation provided for families of victims.
