  • Says Visakhapatnam and Amaravati will be developed into IT hubs
  • Sees synergy between IT and rural development sectors

In an interaction with a section of media here, Lokesh said he was not just being optimistic but also realistic in saying that the IT and manufacturing sectors would provide three lakh plus jobs in near future.Plans were afoot to develop Visakhapatnam and Amaravati as IT hubs, but his concern was not just this sector alone, he added.

“I don’t want to say that I am competing with Bengaluru, Chennai or Hyderabad. These are all giants in the field. I do not have to in fact. I am just a beginner. But, I am looking at sectors that have great potential of providing employment like the manufacturing sector. For example, AP will soon have a drone manufacturing facility at Visakhapatnam with Israeli help.

Similarly, out of the 10 top mobile manufacturing companies, three will be produced from Tirupati. AP shall be looking at these sectors rather than replicate the success of other cities," he said.

On the challenges of integrating rural development with technology, he said he had “both my heart and mind” in the subject and a careful methodology had been adopted by him.

“There is a synergy among the departments. Funds are not a constraint. I keep track of all works. In fact, I use drones to keep a tab on the progress of the work. There could not be any falsehood in any claims due to this”. Lokesh met Union Rural Development minister Narendra Singh Tomar, here on Thursday to seek funds under Material Budget (Rs 1,351.81 crore) pending with the Centre and also due towards Labour Budget (Rs 600 crore). He told him that the previous governments

falsely had claimed that 2,207 habitations had road connectivity though they did not and sought funds for laying 4,772 km long roads in the state which would cost Rs 3,185 crore.Lokesh also sought release of Rs 165 crore for toilets being built under the aegis of Swachh Andhra Corporation.
