The Gujarat Election Commission has banned the use of the word 'papu' in campaigns for Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. In the electoral campaign, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sent a script to the EC using the term 'Pappu' for Rahul.

The committee, which examined the script, said that the word 'Pappu' was objectionable. The Election Commission has stated that it is a shame to call that for a leader. The Gujarat BJP lines that responded to the Election Commission decision indicated that the script used in the advertisement was not for any leader.

Prior to the election, the script for the campaign was announced before the media committee headed by the Gujarat Election Commission. The members of the committee examined the script so that they wanted to remove the word 'pappu'. Soon a new script will be given to EC.
