The bust of Bhimrao Ambedkar was inaugurated in the University of Massachusetts on May 5. This was a step in expansion of the iconic emancipator.The unveiling is a part of a conference on the Unfinished Legacy of Ambedkar.

The bust of Bhimrao Ambedkar was inaugurated in the University of Massachusetts on May 5. This was a step in expansion of the iconic emancipator.The unveiling is a part of a conference on the Unfinished Legacy of Ambedkar.

The program was conducted by the Indian/Dalit diaspora of Boston.Three other universities in Canada have also installed a bust of Dr.Ambedkar in November 2017.

British Columbia University, Simon Fraser University and York University also installed busts of Ambedkar on their grounds.Slowly the name of Ambedkar is spreading along with the Indian/Dalit diaspora.

Vivek Kumar, professor of sociology, Jawaharlal Nehru University stated that in USA and Canada, universities work with the local communities, including a vibrant Dalit diaspora. They have been arguing with campuses that when they teach Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Mandela, they cannot ignore Ambedkar who was a torchbearer for human rights in India.
