54-year-old nun found dead inside a convent well

KOLLAM: On Sunday a 54-year-old nun who belonged to the Mount Tabor Dayara and Convent, Pathanapuram, was found dead inside a well on the institution premises. The deceased has been identified as Sr C E Soosanna, a teacher at St Stephen school, Pathanapuram.

Both her hands were slit and hair was chopped off.

The body was found in the well by convent staff after tracing the blood stains which were found close-by at around 9:30 AM. The fire force personnel reached the spot immediately, they did not get her out after finding out that she was dead. Later, the body was taken out and inquest conducted. The body was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Pathanapuram police have found a blade from the nun's room. Witnesses said that there were blood stains in the nun's room as well as in the backyard of the convent. Part of her chopped hair was also found in the room.

Sr Soosanna, who hailed from East Kallada, was working at the school for the past 25 years. According to convent inmates, she was taken ill and was on leave for the past one week. Apart from going to a hospital, she had also visited certain pilgrim centres, they said.
