Is there a requisite for Punishments in schools? Many teachers have taken up to thrashing kids brutally and also locking the students with chains.

Schools are meant for only studies and any amount of extra activities were punished in early days. The form of punishment given was through making the students kneel down, run rounds around the school ground, get an imposition of 100 times or get hit once with a cane.

With the generations evolving, however, the old forms and methods are just scrapped. Not only did the extra-cirricular activities get importance but the punishment methods have turned worse. Many teachers have taken up to thrashing kids brutally and also locking the students with chains. On being questioned to the acts, teachers state that they have been given full rights to punish the children by the parents. Parents on the other hand also believe punishments are the way to control the kids.

The question to be asked is that is there no other mode to get the students follow rules that doesn’t involve punishment. Only in India, punishments are common but in other countries, it is considered as an offense which even leads to a jail term for life.

Child psychologists believe the children need to be monitored but the punishment in the form of beating or thrashing is not required. Both parents and teachers should bring a change by totally eradicating the punishment in the schools.
