Modi dons role of peddler of dreams

At the recent BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi sold a dream to the BJP top brass of launching a virtual war against the Congress in the cyber-space. Modi led the BJP leadership to believe that it can win the poll through the virtual war. This prompted a senior Congress leader to dub Modi as peddler of dreams. Modi, who took the lead by going on the twitter and even changing apparel to suit in order to attract the middle-class and youth, is convinced that through the cyber-space, it is easier to bombard the Congress. This has also sparked a row in the saffron party on who is more modern. Indeed, the late Pramod Mahajan is credited with modernising the BJP, with the Toyota turned into modern Rath for the Ram Rath Yatra of L K Advani and by shifting the venue of the BJP National Executives to five-star hotels, which provide all facilities, including business services. Advani also claims to be modern, being among the first to use digital diaries, mobile phone and also for launching the first poll campaign on the cyber-space in 2009, when he was projected as the BJP prime ministerial candidate. Certainly, the Advani campaign feels, Modi is no innovator, but Advani was.
