The Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) on Thursday took some landmark decisions during its annual General Council.

 Punnaiah Choudary K ChVisakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) on Thursday took some landmark decisions during its annual General Council.

Foremost among the unanimous decisions was to elevate the incumbent Treasurer and Prakasam unit President Cherukuri Raghu Kiran as the new Secretary replacing the long-standing tenure of Punnaiah Choudary K Ch, who has since been appointed as the Technical Director of India Badminton League by the Badminton Association of India (BAI). T Sampath Kumar, Secretary of the Guntur unit will be the new Treasurer in the meeting that was chaired by Association President TG Venkatesh.

The AGM resolved to urge BAI to allot the All India Sub-Junior Ranking tournament to Vijayawada and the All India Senior Ranking tournament to Kurnool in the next season. Meanwhile, the Association also released its tentative venues for the coming season.

Kadapa will host the Senior Championships and Kothapeta in East Godavari gets the Under-19 Junior event while the Under-19 Junior event has been allotted Tirupati. The U-13 and 15 will be ­conducted in West Godavari district and the State Masters will be held in Vizianagaram.

The AGM has approved the statements of accounts as on today and Prabhakar Rao & Co have been appointed as the auditors. Dr P Ankamma Choudary and T Narayana Reddy will be the APBA delegates in the BAI AGM that will held at Mumbai on January 2 and 3.

In a welcome tribute that was applauded by representatives from the 13 districts, Association chief Venkatesh gifted a car to Punnaiah Choudary as a thanksgiving gesture for his four-decade services to APBA.
