Sreeja win Natl silver
Top-seed Anthony Amalraj defeated sixth seed Sanil Shetty 4-2 to win the men’s singles title while No 3 seed Madhurika Patkar beat fourth-seed Pooja Sahasrabuddhe 4-2 to win the women’s singles crown in the National Ranking (North Zone) Table Tennis Championships here on Thursday.
Chandigarh: Top-seed Anthony Amalraj defeated sixth seed Sanil Shetty 4-2 to win the men’s singles title while No 3 seed Madhurika Patkar beat fourth-seed Pooja Sahasrabuddhe 4-2 to win the women’s singles crown in the National Ranking (North Zone) Table Tennis Championships here on Thursday.
In the junior ranks, Archana Kamath, who could not defend the Junior title, made amends to regain the Youth Girls title beating Telangana State Sreeja Akula 4-1. Representing the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Sreeja displayed grit to beat strong players from North Bengal and Maharashtra but lost to her colleague Archana in the finals.
Manav Thakkar, who had won the Junior Boys title on Wednesday, beat West Bengal's Arjun Ghosh 4-1 in the Youth Boys final to complete a double.
