Hyderabad: Telangana State’s Fide Master J Ramakrishna emerged winner in the Fomento All India Open FIDE rating chess tournament at Goa on Thursday, according to information received here.

Ramakrishna, who is employed with Andhra Bank, and International Master Himanshu Sharma of Haryana were tied with eight points after nine rounds. In the tie-break, Ramakrishna was declared winner because of a better aggregate.

In the final round, Ramakrishna defeated International Master Kulakarni Vikramaditya of Western Railways. FM M Srinivasa Rao of Andhra Pradesh finished third with seven points.

Telangana State Chess Association President A Narasimha Reddy and Secretary A Venkateswara Rao congratulated Ramakrishna for winning the coveted title.
