Volleyball tournament gets off to splendid start
The Late Sri L Venkatram Reddy Memorial Volleyball Tournament was off to a splendid start after the inauguration of the event by Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy, chairman of Sports Authority of Telangana State, at LB Stadium here on Friday

St. Anthony's, ZPHS Kulthur, TSRS Balanagar and GHS Rezimental Bazar schools stole the limelight by remaining unbeaten with double victories in as many matches played. Then the opening day witnessed 13 competitions. The teams to emerge victorious are: TS Sports School bt St. Philomena, St. Anthony's bt ZPHS Kodakala, ZPHS Kulthur bt ZPHS Uppal, ZPHS Manchani bt ZPHS Narkhed, TSRS Balanagar bt ZPHS Jillelaguda, GHS Rezimental Bazar bt GHS Br. Bollaram, St. Anthony's bt ZPHS Rangapur, ZPHS Khanapur bt Little Flowr H.S., ZPHS Kulthur bt GHS Kavadiguda, TSRS Balanagar bt St. Pious Ramnagar, GHS Rezimental Bazar bt ZPHS Thimmapur, TSRS Borabanda bt ZPHS Manchani and St. Francis bt Obul Reddy.
The tourney received an overwhelming response with 29 schools and over 400 students taking part in the event. The tournament is held for Under-14 Inter-School Boys & Girls Categories. 21 boys team and 19 girls teams are participating in the tournament.
The two-day tourney is being conducted by A.P. Sports Hostellers Welfare Association and the valedictory function at 6pm tomorrow will be graced by chief guest A. Dinakar Babu, IAS, Vice Chairman & MD (SATS) The tournament is organized by former National players Shailaja, Anitha, Praveena, Ramesh, KiranReddy, G.V.Madhav, Sridhar, Shanthi Reuben and many more players.
TSIIC Managing Director Narasimha Reddy, Olympic Association of Telangana General secretary Prem Raj, GHMC veteran Sports Officer Venkateshwar Reddy, SATS Executive Deputy Director Narsingham Reddy, SATS Deputy Director G.A. Shoba, Stadium Admin Harinath, Volley Ball Coach Mohan Kumar were also present at the opening ceremony.
