Washington: Chat application Wiper has been removed from Apple's iOS App Store in China.

The application is designed to provide users with control over their sent and received messages. It recently rolled out support for bitcoin transactions between users. The tool allows individuals to send crypto-currency to others inside the app's main chat interface.

According to San Francisco based techcrunch.com, the bitcoin integration got Wiper removed from Apple's iOS App Store in China.

TechCrunch quoted Manlio Carrelli, Wiper's CEO, as saying that Wiper was "removed from the iOS App Store in China due to violating that app store's policies," and that "Apple [had] explained to [the company] by phone that this violation was related to Wiper enabling bitcoin payments."

According to the Wiper's own metrics, the app has received eight million downloads in the last 90 days.

Wiper's core functionality that separates it from other chat is that it allows users to delete their digital correspondence with other users on a case-by-case basis. According to Carrelli, when a conversation has been deleted, it is erased from both users' phones, along with "any temporary record kept on Wiper servers."

Wiper was blocked in the Chinese App Store is notable given the growing popularity of bitcoin in China itself. According to recent media reports, around 80 percent of bitcoin transactions at current tip are associated with the Chinese Yuan.
