NEW DELHI:We first heard about Motorola's Moto Z Play smartphone last month when it got listed on the Indian import/export website . The handset has this time appeared in a leaked image. What's interesting in the image is that the device is seen featuring both a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as USB type C.
The appearance of 3.5mm headphone jack makes news as the recently-launched Moto Z and the Moto Z Force smartphones miss out on the 3.5mm headphone jack and instead come with a USB Type-C to support the headphones. The Moto Z Play, if launched, will be the first in the series to sport a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The alleged Moto Z Play image by HellomotoHK on Google + shows the device sandwiched between the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force. In the image, the 3.5mm headphone jack is clearly visible at the bottom alongside the USB Type-C port. So far, there is no official word about the device from Motorola.
worth mentioning that the unannounced Moto Z Play was listed on AnTuTu benchmarking website revealing some of its specifications. As per the list, the smartphone will sport 5.5-inch Amoled display with full-HD resolution, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB RAM, and 32GB of inbuilt storage. Also seen are 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The smartphone will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and is said to come at a price tag of $300.
The company has confirmed that it would not be killing the Moto X line-up anytime soon. According to the company, although both Moto X and the Moto Z series of devices share similar specifications, they offer an altogether different experience to customers.
According to analysts, since most of smartphones in Moto X series feature specifications similar to that of the new Moto Z and Moto Z Force, it may be difficult for Moto X devices to find a market. This also means that the X series might get relegated to the mid-range segment, as the new 'flagship' title has now been taken over by Moto Z line-up.
