Hyderabad: Assembly to Pass Resolution on Polavaram OrdinanceHyderabad: The issue of transferring seven mandals in Khammam district which would be submerged under Polavaram project to Andhra Pradesh appears to be snowballing into a political controversy. The TRS had opposed the ordinance issued by the President after the NDA came to power in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Business advisory committee of the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday decided to pass a unanimous resolution opposing the ordinance on Polavaram. On the other hand, the Telangana Congress Legislature Party which met here on Wednesday passed a resolution opposing the project and the ordinance issued by the Centre.

The T Congress leaders demanded that the Centre withdraw the ordinance. The said that they would fight for the rights of the Tribals and will try to ensure that the seven mandals would remain in Telangana. The TRS government wants that a detailed discussion on the issue should take place in the Assembly and that it should pass a unanimous resolution demanding withdrawal of the ordinance. The government proposes to send the resolution to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interestingly, the TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Tuesday gave a call to launch another agitation opposing the Ordinance.
