KCR: Will Keep Promise of Farm Land to DalitsHyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday envisioned a special growth engine project for uplift and economic development of Dalits in 10 districts of Telangana. He suggested budgetary allocation intended for welfare of Dalits should be transferred to the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department for effective implementation of the project.

KCR, who chaired a high-level review meeting to draw a strategy for development of Scheduled Castes in the new State, said Dalits should be categorised as rural, semi urban and urban to ensure that benefits under various welfare programmes reach them.

The Chief Minister reiterated his resolve to distribute three acres of farm land to each Dalit family as promised by the party manifesto. He asked the officials to check whether the lands to be distributed to Dalits were assured with water for irrigation and power connection.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to take up distribution of land to Dalits as pilot project soon. He asked the officials to organise Dalit sabhas in all districts. The entire data regarding the scheme should be made available on online by September, he said.

He also suggested that once in every three months the officers concerned should get the progress reports on the implementation of the scheme. The Chief Minister also suggested that the agriculture department needs to be geared up to assist beneficiaries in all aspects.
