Saturday was the last day for filing applications for grant of licences, traders lined up at the excise offices across the state. However, the response to the liquor shop licences was immense in some places and almost nil in some regions, added sources. By closure, as many as 5,555 licence applications were received. One more interesting aspect seen this time is the number of female applicants.
The government envisages a reasonably good amount of revenue from liquor sources and the amount collected towards the applications for licences also generated a good revenue, added sources.
