Tandur (Rangareddy): The heavy rain that has been lashing the district for the last two days had brought cheer to the farmers and water to the nearly dried Kagna River, a tributary of Bhima River.

Several low-lying areas like Saipur, Indiranagar and Green City in Tandur town were inundated due to the heavy rain. The narrow culverts were overflowed with flood water and water entered several houses in the town. The road between Tandur and Kokat was submerged disrupting the traffic for several hours. The commuters faced lot of inconvenience due to the overflowing culvert.

Meanwhile, flood water reached the Sivasagar project in Yalala mandal. The rain gave much relief to the farmers who had been expecting it for the last few weeks. The farmers said that the rain would help the crops like red gram, cotton, green gram and black gram.

Municipal commissioner Gopaiah visited the submerged houses in the town and instructed the staff to clear the water. He said that a culvert at a cost of Rs. 1.10 lakh would be built at Saipur to facilitate the free flow of flood water.
