KT Rama RaoHyderabad: The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) in technical cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Germany, launched a first-of-its-kind and novel initiative “Retrofitting Programme (5-point programme) for Information Technology Parks in Cyberabad zone of TSIIC.”

The programme includes Retrofitting existing buildings into Green Buildings, Barrier Free Workspace and Zero Waste Buildings; Solid Waste Management in the Industrial Park, including E-waste management; Promotion of "Cycle to Work"; Increasing Green Cover in the Industrial Parks and Storm-Water Management and Rain Water Harvesting.

Minister for Information Technology, KT Rama Rao launched the programme and unveiled an information brochure in a special function held on Wednesday at Tech Mahindra Auditorium, Hi-Tech City Phase-II, Madhapur.

Addressing the gathering, he described the programme as a wonderful initiative. "We need to go green in all aspects, and not just five areas identified under this programme. GIZ has 10 years of work experience, they worked with 35 industrial parks around Hyderabad,” he informed. He stated that German government has pledged a support of Rs 10 crore to GIZ to study, adapt and implement climate changes and impacts on these parks.

To encourage more IT parks go for Retrofitting, Telangana government announced a fund of Rs 5 Lakh as incentive to each IT park to appoint a
consultant or an expert to advise them on Retrofitting.
