Presiding over a review meeting with officials on working of gram panchayats, the Minister said the TRS government would make gram panchayats as “one stop shops” and they would function in a transparent manner with responsibility. He said pensions and employment guarantee payments would be paid through the e-panchayats apart from issuance of birth and death certificates and collection of taxes. He also disclosed that the e-panchayats would be linked with Broad Band connectivity.

He further said the State government will implement an action plan to modernise village panchayats and improve living standards of poor. While stressing the need for strengthening Panchayat Raj system across Telangana state, at a high level review meeting with Panchayat Raj and SERP and officials concerned, the Minister stated that entire Panchayat Raj system would be brought under one umbrella and implement welfare schemes straightaway and provide 29 services through e-seva centres.

“Our ultimate aim is to improve the living standards of rural population and transform Panchayats as 'e-Panchayats to implement welfare schemes on a phone call,” the Minister said. The minister also directed the officials to take up the schemes to peoples' doorsteps and deliver the goods.
