Hyderabad: The stalemate between realtors of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA) came to an end on Wednesday as the cement manufacturers agreed to cut cement prices by Rs 20 to 25 per bag.

The decision was announced after the representatives of CMA, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India, and Telangana Builders Federation held discussions with Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao late on Wednesday night.

The realtors and the builders thanked the CM for taking the initiative to defuse the situation, and said they appreciated the concerns of the CMA.

Earlier, cement companies refused to reduce the prices, claiming that they had been incurring heavy losses for the last three years due to rise in input costs and lack of

demand.

The cement companies had almost doubled the price from Rs 150 -160 to Rs 300 - 325 a bag in the last one month. Cement is sold at Rs 315 in AP and Rs 325 in Telangana.
