Hyderabad: High alert has been ordered at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) of Shamshabad in Hyderabad from Tuesday. To this effect, an announcement has been made by the officials of communication cell at Shamshabad on Sunday night.

RGIA: Security to be beefed up from tomorrow

It is learnt that hostile alerts have been received by the airport authorities, going on with the Independence Day Celebrations to be held on August 15 in Hyderabad. As a preventive measure, it has been decided to beef up the security at the RGIA, added sources.

The officials said that passes of all kinds will not be issued from August 5 to August 20. Also, entry tickets will not be issued to anyone, added sources. The officials said that the VIP and VVIP passes will also be cancelled during the said period. The passengers have been requested to cooperate with the frisking officials. The rules will be in force till further orders. The state police will also reportedly enhance the security measures in the surrounding areas of the airport.
