Nizamabad: Superintendent of Police Dr Tarun Joshi on Sunday appealed to the people to make more use of the ‘Dial 100’ facility for providing information to the police so that they could take action. He said appropriate steps would be taken by the police, based on telephonic information. Dr Joshi stated that 2,548 ‘Dial 100’ calls were received from the people during July 10 to August 9 this year from Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Armur and Bodhan sub-division police limits. They included 634 ‘false’ calls. While 653 accident cases were registered following information provided by callers, there were 940 other cases. The police reached the spot within five minutes, the SP claimed. According to him, 79 cases of bodily offence cases, 29 of property and 213 of suicides/suicide attempts were also registered. Dr. Joshi warned that action would be taken against those making false ‘Dial 100’ calls, as they would result to waste of time; consequently, the police would not be able to reach those in genuine need.
