Hyderabad: The Telangana State government and the Centre are heading for a major collision over the issue of special responsibilities to Governor in the common capital area.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to leave no stone unturned to expose the “anti-democratic move” of the NDA government before the entire nation. He reached out to his counterparts in West Bengal, Orissa and Tamil Nadu, among other States, to seek their support to oppose the Centre’s proposal.

Rao held discussions in this regard with party MPs at his Camp Office on Sunday afternoon and gave directions on the strategies to be adopted in the parliament. He asked the MPs to register a strong protest in both Houses on Monday.

Accordingly, TRS MPs will give an adjournment motion to Lok Sabha Speaker when the session commences at 11 am. They will stall the proceedings if Speaker disallows the adjournment motion request.

Meanwhile, the ruling party got the much-needed boost with Trinamool Congress and Biju Janata Dal expressing support to its move. KCR spoke over phone with the Chief Ministers of West Bengal and Odisha states and explained to them the Centre’s agenda to equip the Governor with special powers in Telangana State, and sought

their co-operation to stall the move.

NDA’s decision would set a bad precedence and it was important that all the States stand up in unison to counter it, Rao told both the CMs. In response, Mamata Banerjee and Biju Patnaik assured full support and even reportedly directed their party MPs to raise their voice in parliament on Monday. KCR also spoke to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on this issue. Rao is also contemplating to hold a meeting with non-BJP ruled states soon to expose the “anti-people” actions of the Modi government.
