Santhosh Devi with doctor Dr Ganesh MathanHyderabad: Doctors at the Yashoda Hospitals achieved a rare feat by saving a 65-year-old woman by performing a very complex Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) on Wednesday.

According to doctor Dr Ganesh Mathan, Senior interventional Cardiologist at the Yashoda Hospitals, the patient Santhosh Devi had a severe chest pain two weeks ago at Bishrampur in Chhattisgarh. After a Coronary Angiogram, she was advised Open Heart Surgery.

However, her family members refused to go for the surgery since she was also suffering from diabetes and high BP which would complicate the surgery and had high chances of table death.

Meanwhile, she was suggested to Yashoda where Dr Ganesh and his team successfully performed the surgery and saved her life. Dr Ganesh, in a press release, said, ”Now-a-days, we frequently get such complex cases referred to our hospital from peripheries and also nearby States, where patients are denied PTCA due to lack of expertise, infrastructure, support team, advanced equipments etc. Results of PTCA in our centre are very encouraging and lot of patients are opting for multi vessel PTCA rather than getting their chest opened.”
