Women Scribes Unhappy Over Discrimination. Members of Network of Women in Media (NWM), India, Hyderabad chapter and women journalists working with electronic and print media made their recommendations on Wednesday to the Women Commission on Security (WCS) constituted by Government of Telangana.

Hyderabad: Members of Network of Women in Media (NWM), India, Hyderabad chapter and women journalists working with electronic and print media made their recommendations on Wednesday to the Women Commission on Security (WCS) constituted by Government of Telangana.

They expressed their displeasure over discrimination of women and the various cases of harassment that they face even at their work places. Their suggestions included an active grievance cell, government ads and preference for women-friendly media, ensuring at least 25 per cent accreditation to women journalists, ensuring a check on news that violates women’s rights, equal opportunities among other things.

NWM made a special representation against objectionable language used by leading media house head in his interview.

They also expressed their displeasure over the way Swetha Basu’s news was treated. And how there was no proper mechanism to check such violations.
