Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah on Tuesday flayed Congress and TDP leaders for criticising the TRS government. He told the party workers and leaders not to pay attention to the baseless allegations being made by the opposition parties but to focus on public welfare and make them role players in building a ‘golden Telangana’.
Addressing party workers at the district executive meeting here on Tuesday, Rajaiah said the misrule by successive governments led by Telugu Desam Party and Congress was the main reason for power shortage in Telangana state and suicides by farmers.
The governments led by TDP and Congress did not care to address the issues being faced by farmers in Telangana in terms of power supply. As a result, the problem has become bigger now, nevertheless, the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was making serious efforts to support the farming community, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Warangal MP K Srihari noted that the TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah while in Congress cabinet has never cared to address farmers’ issues. “District farmers suffered a lot due to hailstorms that hit the crops for five years continuously in the past,” he added.
But, Lakshmaiah failed to put pressure on the government to release input subsidy to support affected farmers but was now making meaningless allegations against the government, the MP said while reminding that the TRS government has released Rs 480 crore as input subsidy of which Rs 54 crore was allocated to Warangal district.
Meeting was attended by Mahabubabad MP A Seetaram Naik, MLAs B Shankar Naik, K Surekha, MLCs B Venkateshwarlu and N Rajalingam, the party district president T Ravinder Rao, its district in-charge P Sudharshan Reddy and others.
The highlight of the meeting was MP Srihari’s call to party workers not to allow anti-Telangana forces like Errabelli Dayakar Rao from joining the TRS. A few second rung leaders complained about the priority being accorded to newly joined workers, while neglecting those working in the party since its inception.
