Hyderabad: TS IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has blamed previous Congress and TDP regimes for the power crisis prevailing in Telangana. In a strong-worded open letter, KTR posed 22 questions and sought answers from both parties.

“How can one justify power problems in Telangana which possess lakhs of tonnes of coal resources. On the other hand, you have AP, where you cannot find a single piece of coal, but power-wise it is sitting pretty,” he said. While coal was extracted from Singareni Collieries in Telangana, thermal power plants were set up in far-away Vijayawada, Krishnapatnam and Kadapa by the previous regimes. Hence thermal power being generated in Seemandhra (4,410 MW) was almost the double being generated in Telangana which is 2,282 MW, he said. This was a simple example of the negligence meted out to Telangana by Congress in its 40 years and TDP in its 17 years rule. Ignoring these facts and statistics, which was nothing but betrayal, these two parties were resorting to mudslinging on TRS government, he felt. “Congress and TDP want every wrong done in the last 57 years to be set right by TRS government in three months,” he opined.
