Applicants turned out in large numbers at the Trimulgherry Tehsil Office and RDO office, Minister Road in Secunderabad, for applying for new food distribution cards, caste certificates, family income certificates, old age pensions, widow pensions and physically challenged scheme benefits as per the new guidelines. The schemes and cards have been revised so as to ensure that the social and family welfare benefits go to the poor and weaker sections of the society.

Mad rush at the counter of Trimulgherry Tehsil Office

Ramkrishana, Tehasildhar of Trimulgherry, said, “Elaborate arrangements were made for the convenience of the applicants and counters for different categories. A public address system was opened to help people.”

“We received 1,267 applications on Monday; 2,006 on Tuesday and 2,800 on Wednesday under six different categories. Out of the total eight wards in the Secunderabad Cantonment, three wards completed registration on Wednesday. The fourth and fifth wards were scheduled for Thursday, while the others are scheduled to be completed by Saturday,” he informed.

U Raghu Ram Sarma, Revenue Divisional Officer, Secunderabad, said, “The counters would remain open on Sunday for the convenience of the applicants, and Monday would be the last date for submission.” He appealed to the people to come before the last date for submission with the relevant documents along with photocopies to avoid last day rush.

Women wait outside Secunderabad RDO office

Figures as furnished by the RDO, Secunderabad, on Wednesday, covering seven mandals viz Ammerpet, Khairatabad, Maredpally, Musherabad, Secunderabad, Shaikpet and Trimulgherry, totalled 48,340.

As per government guidelines, those who have not yet applied for the certificates can file their applications by October 20. Also, the elderly and the physically and mentally challenged people can send their application forms with relevant documents through a third person and collect receipts.
