Telangana Government To Open Arrack Shops. n what could be termed as good news for boozers, especially arrack lovers, the Telangana government is mulling reopening of arrack shops in a bid to curb rampant sale of illicitly distilled (ID) liquor in districts. Speaking to reporters in Assembly lobbies on Monday, Excise Minister T Padma Rao said this proposal was under consideration since male members of poor families in rural areas were dying at young age after getting addicted to ID liquor.

Depressed with losing sole bread earner of the family, even widows were turning to it and involving in flesh trade to make ends meet, he lamented. Further, he stated Excise department would conduct raids soon after conclusion of Assembly session in wake of complaints about sale of adulterated and non-duty paid liquor in districts.
