Kothagudem (Khammam): Contract workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) staged a sit-in under the aegis of Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) in front of the company’s head office here on Wednesday demanding regularisation of services.

Earlier, they took part in a rally from Kothagudem bus stand to Singareni head office.

They were also being denied equal pay for equal work. The Singareni Collieries Contract Workers Union has been agitating for the last 10 years demanding solution to problems of contract workers.

The IFTU leaders also said that the Sulabh workers were not covered under Coal Mines Provident Fund (CMPF). They recalled that the contract workers had played an active part during the movement for a separate State of Telangana.
