Karimnagar: The Minister for Irrigation and Marketing T Harish Rao laid foundation stone here on Monday for several developmental works including modernisation of existing rythu bazaar into model one at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that once model rythu bazaar becomes operational it would be convenient for selling vegetables, fruits, flowers, meat and fish.

Later, Harish Rao participated in a review meeting on Mission Kakatiya programme at ZP conference hall in which officials and people’s representatives took part. He instructed officials concerned to prepare estimates for restoration of tanks in the district as part of Mission Kakatiya.

“Assistant engineers of Irrigation Department must participate in the mandal praja parishad meetings in every mandal,” he added. The Minister said that officials working in Mission Kakatiya programme would be given rankings based on their performance.

“Officials getting better ranks would be posted at the place of their choice,” he said. He has alleged that chain-link tanks system was destroyed in Telangana by the rulers in united state. “Lands belonging to tanks were encroached at several places,” he stated. Harish Rao stated that the Mission Kakatiya programme might be launched in the first week of January.

He gave a call to officials and people’s representatives to make Mission Kakatiya programme a grand success. The Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, District Collector M Veera Brahmaiah, MLAs Gangula Kamalakar, B Shobha, Rasamayi Balakishan, Karimnagar Mayor Sardar Ravinder Singh, officials and people’s representatives were present.
