The government faced severe criticism for not furnishing information related to encroachment on government lands in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. The major parties including Congress, TDP, MIM and BJP said they could not take a stand on regularisation of encroachment lands without having a look at the data. The Chief Minister then directed the officials concerned to furnish information related to the status of government lands in Hyderabad and RR district.

Most of the parties including BJP and TDP opposed the government proposal on realignment of metro project route and construction of Vinayak Sagar for Ganesh immersion. Kishan Reddy said the government should instead focus attention on Old City development. But the MIM stuck to its stand, demanding change in alignment of Metro Rail route in the Old City.

The CM reiterated that the route realignment was necessary to protect the heritage structures. He also said that Vinayak Sagar was meant to protect Hussain Sagar lake which needs to be restored to its original glory. BJP state president G Kishan Reddy said no other lake was suitable for immersion of idols. He suggested that efforts be made to convince people to make only small and medium size idols.

TDP leaders L Ramana and E Dayakar Rao said the new Land encroachment Act may give room for corruption. CPM’s Thammineni Veerabhadram also expressed similar opinion, while CPI’s Chada Venkat Reddy sought protection of government lands. Congress leader K R Suresh Reddy said they had given details about 6,450 acres of encroached lands. He asked the government to take all parties into confidence while taking key decisions.

MIM leader Akbaruddin demanded that a lung space be built at Hussain Sagar besides purification. He asked the government to develop the Old City with all amenities. He reportedly supported the proposal on Hussain Sagar and said immersion of idols began during Chenna Reddy regime in 1980 and was continuing. Except YSRCP all major parties were represented.
