The Chief Minister said that funds would be released in advance so that contractors do not face hardships in carrying works. He stressed that the would be no dearth of funds and that international funding agencies were showing keen interest in the mega project. The ambitious Drinking Water Grid Scheme is estimated to cost over Rs 20,000 crore.

Rao was speaking at an awareness meeting organised for Rural Water Supply (RWS) department held at Siddipet on Wednesday. He said that RWS in co-ordination with Public Health department would complete this project in nine districts. Hyderabad needs would be dealt with later by the metropolitan water board.

Rao described the completion of water grid project as the first priority of his government. He said that all departments and ministers would extend full co-operation in its implementation. The government would also give iPads, laptops and tablets to all those involved in the implementation of the scheme.

The Chief Minister said, "a lot of aspersions were cast on the capability of the TRS to run government in the new state. But we are going ahead with a clear vision. If drinking water project gets completed as envisaged, whole country will take note of our big achievement and appreciate the functioning of the government and official machinery."
