HYDERABAD: It is official now that the old State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) building is all set to house Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's camp office. And in all probability, the CM may move into the building by December-end and revive the YSR-style 'Praja Darbar' from the first week of January.
Though KCR had moved into the CM's residence, he refused to use the camp office for unknown reasons. However, he evinced interest in the decades-old SIB building and decided to base his camp office there. After his team took care of the 'vaastu' component of the building, the CM Security Group cordoned off the premises and directed R&B officials to take up renovation works as per security requirements.
The building, a stone's throw from the CM's residence, is a G+1 structure and has seven spacious rooms and enough parking space. "The chief minister's chamber will be on the ground floor, while his secretaries will be accommodated on the first floor. A huge conference hall has been created to hold review meets or host dignitaries," sources in the R&B department told TOI.
For security concerns, a luggage scanner has been put in place near the building's main gate. Apart from the scanner, door-frame-metal detectors and scanners to check vehicles have also been arranged, the official added.
On previous occasions, the CMO had thrice dropped hints that the CM would be moving into the SIB building but deferred the decision. Now, in a fresh message to R&B authorities, CMO officials indicated that the shifting would be done within 10 days and directed them to keep the premises ready, a senior R&B official.
Though officials refused to reveal the expenditure incurred for the facelift, sources said it could be nearly Rs 10 lakh.
